Long Time No Post

This is strongly becoming something I really enjoy. I never thought I'd find a tea that I like both hot and cold. Had to purchase another tin last night. It's so worth the cost.

Finshed knitting Tina's Marmee Beret, beautiful pattern. I need to block this weekend and I'll try to get a photo to post for all to see. Make sure you check out her patterns, they are available on ravelry as well as her blog. I'll be making the matching Marmee cowl one day soon.

Well off to another day of nothingness. Still looking for work. Still no hope. But life goes on.

Poppy's Blanket

Grace knitted my babies a blanket for Christmas. Well my little one Poppy has decided that it is her blanket and her sister Pansy is not allowed to share it. Poppy keeps herself wrapped up all snug and loves to sleep away with her new cuddle yummy.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that everyone survived the mountains of wrapping paper, food, and good cheers. Andrew and I stayed at home and relaxed witht he girls. They had their special treats of homemade biscuits (just saying the word biscuit in my house causes hysterics among the girls.) Nothing else .... just quiet time.

I did start some knitting. I'm almost at the heel of a new sock.... wow! I say! It's not like me to knit. But I'm knitting my own pattern and for a great friend. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! So I'm off to knit. Tomorrow will be filled with errand running for everyone I have to cater to. Have a great day and keep knitting!

Sorry I haven't been around as promised. Most of the time I just don't know what to say anymore. Guess I'm becoming a little brain dead being at home all the time. I've been trying to keep myself busy by reading since I really haven't found my knitting mojo. I do hope it returns soon... I have things I need to get finished and started.

New Look

So I am thinking about this blog. Still no knitting but definitely a lot of coffee drinking and of course since I'm still not working there is plenty of time for playing with the pups.

Well just thought I'd make myself at least try to get here and say something even if its not interesting. Tomorrow I will try to make an attempt to work on the socks I'm knitting and to seam up a sweater for a friend. Guess that is about it. I hope everyone else is doing a better job of keeping their knitting mojo motivated than I am.

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Just not much to say... still looking for work. It's been a year now. I'm not sure how much more I can financially as well as emotionally take it. But it is what it is.

I haven't been knitting much lately either. Been taking a break and reading. Well reading funny things just so I can have a laugh or too instead of always feeling so depressed.

I do promise to get back to knitting. I have a few projects I need to get finished with within the next month. And a few belated birthday presents I need to finish up as well.

Well, I do hope to keep the blog going... it not daily at least every other day. Keep knitting without me till I find my mojo again.

A Case of the Didn't Dos....

Didn't go to my knitting group meeting. Didn't do any knitting. But I did run all the family errands I had to. After that I was just too tired to do anything else. Again woke up with a terrible stomach ache... guess drinking coffee isn't helping it much either. But I can't stand my day without at least 2 large mugs of the stuff. Did get a few hours of sleep last night so at least today I don't look like a zombie.

Knitting on the horizon...maybe, I need to sew together a sweater for a friends mom who doesn't like "the putting it together part" ... I have the shoulder seams completed and one sleeve inset. So just need to inset the second sleeve and sew the side seams. So maybe after I complete some freelance work I have I'll finish that up.

Other than that... just dinking around looking for work, sending resumes, and playing with the pups. The worst part about finding a full time job is .... not being home with the dogs... I love their company...

Well off to do some work. Have a great day everyone one and hopefully I'll have some knitting to show soon.

A Little Under the Weather

I haven't felt good in several days now. Guess all my stress has finally taken a told on my health. I haven't been able to sleep or eat much lately with out feeling sick. No knitting so far this week. But I do need to work on the Lupin scarf -- it sure is time consuming when you are knitting on it.

The weather has been really hot here and I'm sure that's not helping much with the way I feel. I loath the hot weather. I would love to live somewhere where it is long sleeve weather, sun shining and a cool breeze. Does a place like that exist?

Tonight is knitting night at our local Barnes and Noble. Not sure if I will be going. I probably should since I've been turning into a recluse lately.... the walls of the condo do feel constricting sometimes. But the total lack of sleep doesn't make for good converstaion.

Well off to find something to do around the house. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and that all their knits and purls are knits and purls.

5th Anniversay Coming Up

Next Monday July 20th will be mine and Andrew's 5th anniversay. And as luck has had it we will just stay home, he will go to work and I will try to make something affordable and nice for his dinner. In these 5 short years we have had the worst luck.

First year.... it took my enitre savings to pay for a titanium elbow replace when Andrew fell walking the dogs. The part that his insurance didn't pay... 10 weeks of no work and 10 weeks of physical therapy.

Second year.... working to recoup and gain control of our bills.
Third year.... lost my job of 20 years.
Fourth year... found work... not the best... and again trying to gain control of our bills.
This year... lost my job again, now my dads guardian, trying to find work, no savings, 5 weeks left of unemployment. And just have this sinking feeling in the pits of my being.

So... maybe something nice for dinner and maybe rent a dollar movie from red box will have to do. After all we have each other.

Not much knitting, why? Not much sleeping going on.... just too stressed and tense...but in time that will have to give way to sleep I HOPE.

Dreary Monday

Its a little rainy today--I'm sure not enough to measure up much, but its cloudy and dark. I did finish up a few unfinished knitting projects I had in my basket. I'll have to take photos to post. Will need to wailt till its a little lighter so I can get good images.

Other than that, its just another Monday. Did my daily searches for places to send resumes. Filed my unemployment. I think I only have 6 weeks left. And now trying to figure out the next step to take.

Not sure if I will do any knitting today. When its overcast like this its hard to get good lighting to see. So I will wait and see how the day goes.

Another Saturday

Not much going on. Sent out a few more resumes... then decided to put myself in a diabetic coma by eating a banana split. It was good and I know my body is going to hate me in a bit. Too much of a good thing always makes my vision go all blurry... so I guess no knitting will be in the plans till I drown myself with drinking lots of water for a few hours.

The morning starting out with a small shower... but it ended quickly. Not enough to turn the brown grass green that's for sure. Well off to find something "domestic" to do. The wonderful fun of laundry.....

Another Early Morning

It's almost 3am and I've been up for about 30 minutes. Just another sleepless night. Woke up from dreaming about giant ants attacking my little pups. What a strange dream. Generally don't get those kind of dreams unless I eat raw onions too close to bedtime.

I dyed up some yarn for the Harry Potter Crafter's Knitalong this past weekend. But now after just swatching I'm not sure the color will work. The pattern has lots of cables and I'm not sure I like the lack of definition. What do you think?

Just Stressed

It's 3:46 am Monday morning and I'm here. A very stressful weekend taking care of my dad and trying to figure out what we are going to do as of August 1st when his care giver (my cousin) moves out. We are trying to sell the house but everyone knows how that is. And of course neither one of my parents planned for their retirement. So there is no extra money for anything. Of course it doesn't help that I have my own worries as well. Being unemployed since November. My small stash is gone and we are just waiting to see if we can survive as well.

Not much knitting lately around here. But do have plans for new yarn for the etsy shop. This will be my last attempt at the shop. It was just something I thought I'd try to see if it would work. But I know the economy is bad for everyone not just myself.

Oh a good note.... I do hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th. I know that there were lots of fun activites and events just about in everyones home town. And I hope that everyone had fun with all their families and friends.

Well off to find soemthing to occupy my time since I can't sleep.

Dry Spell

Haven't done much of anything lately other than frantically looking for a job. Guess I'm just out of luck for finding anything.... so my next weeks venture will be applying to all those places that you hoped you would never have to work at past college. Oh well.... have to live and can't always be picky.

Not much knitting going on in my house. FROGGED the bag that I was knitting... see post below. Just didn't like the tension even though it was on par. I think I'll knit it with smaller needles and decrease it in size some as well. And I think I'll change around the colors as well.

Another Week Has Pasted

Not much going on here. Still looking hard for that job -- and still not much luck. But I keep the fate that something will show up soon. Finished up the Shalom Vest for my friend. I hope I adjusted the size enough to fit her. I need to have her try it on befor I block it just in case I need to do some serious blocking.

I'm working on the Medano Bag a free pattern at Ravelry. I'm using Cascade Sierra in Royal blue and Raspberry. I hope I have enough yarn to finish, if not I have a lighter shade of blue that I could use to knit the top half in a solid color.

Another Tuesday

Had to go in for a 6 month checkup this morning. Just glad to be home so I can have my COFFEE.... I have to have my 2 cups every morning or I'm dragging all day long.

We didn't do much this weekend. Andrew played his online game most of the weekend and I did a bit of knitting. Other than that not much else.

I have the body of the monkey pattern completed and just need to do the arms, legs, tail, and ears. He's turning out to be pretty cute. I think my first cousin Jeremy's little boy Holden will like him. He's into monkeys and has several stuffed ones he plays with.

Poppy and Her Cabana Tent

I finally got a cute photo of Poppy in her favorite little hideaway. Her cabana tent. She has her blanket and if you could see them all about 10 little squeaky toys that she keeps hidden in the back away from her sister Pansy.

Knitting is going and I hope to finish up the Curvy Wavey socks today (see previous post). Then I want to start on the bonus sock for the Harry Potter Crafters KAL at Ravelry.

A Finished Project

Just finished the Fawkes sock for the Harry Potter Crafter's KAL for May. YEAH! Now I need to go ahead and cast on for the second Curvey Wavey sock so I can get them finished as well.

This weekend has been quiet. Rather nice. NO having to run my family around on errands. While everyone else is saying they want to retire and relax at home... me I'm saying -- I want to find that job asap so I don't have to spend everyday running someone somewhere for something. NO matter that I ask them to plan their errands so I can do it all in one day..... it never works out.... I spend almost 8 hours everyday having to run someone. Oh well..... Have to keep myself stressed RIGHT?

It's Wednesday... Where has the Week Gone?

So far it's been a long week. Not much knitting. But a lot of running family to all their needs. And tomorrow it will be the same.... everyone to many doctor's appointments. I pray everyday for a job so I can have some rest from being everyone elses taxi.

Not much knitting but there is hope for today. Did send out to packages of yarn to buyers. So at least I have a few customers. Other than that... looking and networking for that job. Even started applying in other states. There's a job posted in Alaska with the tourist board that I would love to have. But it is a little out of the way for an interview. But I will probably apply anyway -- what the heck right?

Well off to do a little knitting and some laundry. Tonight is knitting night with the girls.... so more my time and no family.

A Little Bit Stressful

Things in my life have been more than a little bit stressful lately. Besides trying to find a job and worrying about loosing the condo I'm also the guardian of my dad. And its getting to that point that we need to put him in an assisted living environment. Since I'm his guardian I have to petition the courts to be able to sell the house and to find him a place. I really hate this. But I do hope he can stay where he is till after garden season. He so loves his garden and has put a lot into it as he does every year.

I've been knitting some ... Wavey socks for a friend in Socks that Rock -- Carbon. Love how the colors are spiraling around. And I've been dyeing my next collection of yarn for my etsy shop. The Mother Earth Collection. Figure I need to get more in the shop and maybe that will temp people to purchase. If the yarn is dry today I hope to post the new collection tomorrow. Doing all that I can to make some money till I find a job. I know when it comes down to it I will take 2 jobs if needed to make things meet. I just never thought I'd be in this situation as I approach 50. Life doesn't throw you lemons... well that is my life sure does.

Finished Panels, Finished socks and One Down

Finished up the last of the panels I was knitting as a commission job. So glad they are finished, passed off to the owners... Phew! Finished up the Cable and Eyelet Socks, and just now finished up one of the Fawke's socks.
I know I need to go ahead and cast on the other Fawkes or I will not get it done. But I also need to dye some yarn.... Nothing else is new... still looking for work, have to go back to the eye doctor on the 14th for more test to see if I have glaucoma (not a good disease for a visual artist) but it is treatable if caught early. My pressure numbers are way up compared to my last testing. Guess I'll know more after the 14th.

A Knitting Weekend

One down and one more to go on the Cable and Eyelet sock.

So far so good on the Harry Potter Crafter's May KAL... Fawkes socks.
Turned the heel and heading for the toe. I need to make a note if I ever knit this sock again to change the heel. I really don't like how it looks or feels on the foot. But I wanted to knit it as the pattern is written.

Next I found these in the yard while I was out with the pups.... maybe, just maybe they will bring me some luck.....

Now I have to stop the fun knitting and finish up the last of the panels for the commissioned project I'm working on. I hope to have it finished late tonight. Wish me luck so I can get back to the fun knitting again.

Ok, so I can't Count

Thought I had finished the commissioned panels I needed to knit. So I went to art school... never mind that I took advanced math and Quantitative analysis... its apparent that I can't count to 10. I am working on the last panel now. Did turn in the finished 9 and apologised that I was short one and would have it to her at our next weeks meeting. I had hoped that I would be able to get back to sometime fun to knit this week. Oh well. I will try to get it finished by Saturday at the lasted then I can get back to work on my projects.

Nothing else is new... just life .... a royal pain in the backside. The thoughts of running away and changing my name keeps entering in my thoughts. I even looked today for a job in Alaska. Thing is I did find something that I would really loved to do. But I couldn't get there if I were to get the job. Oh well.... dreaming/wishing hope.

Well back to doing the things that make my life hell. Sorry.... I don't mean to be so negative. Back to whatever... then maybe I can find some time to do something relaxing.

Posted on etsy the rest of The Birthstone collection. I'm still waiting on another skein of October/Opal to dry so it can be posted (I've already sold 2 skeins of this one). I'm not sure about all the colors...what do you think? I may have to rethink some of them. Guess I'm never satisfied. Oh well.

It's been a busy day. Had lunch with a dear friend today and we caught up on things. It was nice seeing her. We did update the background on her blog so maybe she will get back into blogging. Glad you were able to come by and visit Leslie!

Tomorrow I'm going to take it easy. I need to work on the last commission panel. I will get it done tomorrow. I will, I will. Then I can take a break and work again on my things. I still need to knit the second sock of my sock pattern that I designed to check the pattern and make sure I wrote it up correctly. I'll probably post it for a small fee on Ravelry.

If I had all the Money in the World.....

If you had all the money in the world what 5 things would you do first with your money?
1. Give enough to our family so they will be financially ok.
2. Give some to my 3 best friends to help pay off their debts and medical bills.
3. Pay off all of our bills.
4. Move far enough away from our families as possible and build a new place with a fun backyard for the girls to run and play.
5. Then play money for Andrew and myself to start up our own businesses.

Now On the Knitting Front
Finished up the Cable and Eyelet hat and the Cable and Bobble Fingerless gloves. I have 12 skeins of sock yarn drying and almost ready to post at etsy tomorrow afternoon. Then I need to start the next batch of yarn to dye for the rest of The Birthstone Collection. Phew.... I'm tired just thinking about it.

Dyeing Yarn, Knitting, and Waterlogged Hands

Worked on dyeing yarn for my etsy shop today. Got 10 skeins of sock yarn dyed for my newest collection... The Birthstone Collection. I'll be posting the following months sometimes Monday if they are dry, and definitely by Tuesday.

Now for knitting. I finished up the alternate hat in the Harry Potter's Crafters KAL. I decided to make it shorter so its more of a skully size hat. (I prefer if I'm wearing it). I also finished up the first Cable and Bobble mitten (fingerless glove).
I'll try to get photos in the morning and post them. As for the commissioned panels -- I'm working on the last panel. YEAH! Got about 7 ft left to go then all I have to do is sew in the start and ending threads.

Knitting at Chez Moi

I've been knitting a bunch lately. Finished up the Hermione's Cable and Bobble Hat and started the mittens which I'll modify to fingerless gloves. (which I prefer to wear) for the Ravelry KAL group I joined. I'm Knitabit at Ravelry. I'm still working on the commissioned panels. About half way through panel #10. Two more to go by the end of the month.

Other than that I'm still plugging away at trying to find a job before my unemployment benefits run out. Which is coming soon. Once that happens I have no idea what Andrew and I will do. There's nothing left in savings or retirement. So I guess we will cross that road when we get to it.

I've been procrastinating on getting the sock yarn dyed for my next collection at etsy. However all the yarn is ready and my color cards have been made.... just need to get going. I just don't like dyeing yarn on cloudy rainy days (which its been that way for several days now). So I guess I just need to go ahead... turn on all the lights so it nice and bright and get dyeing.

I found a KAL at Ravelry that I wanted to join today.

I'll be dyeing up some yarn for my first project. The Hermonie cable and eyelet hat. I think I'll also knit a pair of fingerless gloves to go with it. I'm going to base the color on the Deluxe Edition of The Half Blood Prince... dark teal, a little blue, and purple.

Still Knitting on Panels

Four more to go after I finish the one that I'm working on. They need to be finished by the end of the month. I think I might make it.

Not much else going on around here. I am working on a few pieces of freelance art work. Other than that not much else. It's beginning to get a little hot around here. Something I'm not looking forward too. Don't need the added expense of the cost of running the AC. Me and the girls will just have to eat ice cubes to stay cool. That is until I find full time work. I will turn on the air for Andrew if he is hot when he gets home. He gets enough heat working in the welding shop.

Happy April Fool's Day

Hope no one gets fooled today, especially with the computer virus that is suppose to happen today. About the only fooling so far for me is the change in weather here has caused a major headache. Thank goodness its not a migraine.

My etsy shop is still on vacation pending on the local sales talley at a trunk sale that I have at a local company. I hope to have it open again sometimes later this week. Andrew and I are geared up and ready to do some major yarn dyeing this weekend. I hope to through as much as possible so I can post the entire collection at Dreamscape Threads after Easter week. I have all my plans and color combinations planned and ready to go.

Still working on my first sock pattern design. You can see a starting photo at my ravelry page... I'm Knitabit there. I'm still trying to figure out ravelry so have patience with me. I want to keep it going as well as my blogging which I prefer more at the moment.

It doesn't matter if I don't have that many readers---it keeps me sane while I struggle to find work in this state of depression that we are in. You would think that 7 years of college, 22+ years of experiece, and the willingness to step down and take a position on entry level/pay cut would make it easier. Nope! Nope! Nope! Oh well.... its a battle that I hope finds a resolution soon.

I have yarn pulled and ready to dye for the new collection at my etsy store. But I decided I would just take the weekend and knit. I need to get the 12 panels finished up (commissioned work). So this weekend is panel knitting time. It is a good weekend for knitting anyway.. chilly, rainy, and dark. And not a good weekend for playing in water and dyeing new yarn.

Job Fair.... What a waste of TIME!

I'm doing what I'm suppose to do, network, go to job fairs, check all avenues for finding a job.... but no luck so far. The job fairs have been a joke. Be a police person, join the army, buy a franchise, go to school. What is a person suppose to do! There is nothing wrong with being a police person or joining the army... but I'm capped out on age for the army and I've never wanted to be a policewoman...... so I guess my choice is going back to school. I'm checking out the CMA and PharmTech..... there are just no jobs in the publishing or advertising industry here. But if anyone know of anyone looking to hire a graphic artist, illustrator, designer send them to my website to review my portfolio and resume, I would appreciate it.

Oh well. tonight is Knit Night with the girls. Hope I can pull myself out of the blue mood and go. I don't think I'll go to another job fair they just get me too depressed.

Another Tuesday

What to say. I've sorted out and skeined way too many skeins of yarn in preparation to starting dyeing for The Birthstone Collection. Now I need to mix my formulas for uniqueness and get started. My plans are to get started this weekend with October--Opal, why? I think it will be the most challenging and I want to make sure that it really represents the coloring of the stone.

Still working a my own sock pattern... doing some tweaking between working on the commission panels. I do need to spend some time this evening knitting on them. The deadline is approaching. EEK!

Off to work, knit, and play with the pups.

What's New at Chez Cappoen

Not much new here (well one thing---new background design). I went to my knitting group last night. I'm working on a sock design and hope that it turns out like I invision it. I still have more of the panels to knit but I don't take them to the meeting unless I'm just starting a new one. 10 feet of knitting is just too much to tote along.

I'm getting ready to add a new line to my etsy shop. Well that is this weekend I need to get the skeins prepared for dyeing. Right now I have the Great Masters Collection--inspired by paintings of the great masters. My new collections will be a semi-solid collection ---The BIRTH STONE COLLECTION.... inspired by the month gemstones.

What do you think?
I'm thinking about offering it in a DK weight first then a sock weight second. Then seem to be the weight that sells best.

Custom Dyed Yarn for Grace

Grace commissioned me to dye some yarn for her so she can knit the Lotus Blossom Shawl from Fiddlestick's knitting. I based the colors on the below photograph.

More Panel Knitting

Today I'm concentrating on knitting the panels that I mentioned in my last post. I'm a little behind but if I can the the one that I'm working completed tonight and start the next one right away I think I'll be back on schedule.

Tomorrow I have to work on a freelance job. Have to design some logos and a website splash page. So tomorrow there will be no knitting.

I have Grace's yarn dyed and now I'm waiting for it to dry a little more to see if I need to do some over dyeing on the green area. Green is a hard color for me. It's not one of my favorite colors so I always question how it looks and keep wondering if its the right shade. So far I like it... but it is still a little damp and want to see if the color changes any when dried completely.

It's a rainy chilly day here in Greensboro, NC. The big girls are ok with the rain--however, the little girls don't like it one bit. They prefer to use the piddle pads on days like today. I do make them go out just in case.

Some Knitting

Went to my knitting group last night. Did a little knitting on the commission work I'm doing. I need to kick in high gear if I plan on being able to get it all done by the end of April... (I can have May if needed). The work isn't hard... just very time consuming.

It is 12 panels. Each 6 inches wide by 10 Feet long. With a single 8 stitch Front cable down the middle. Knitted on size 11 needles with Super Saver Red Heart Acrylic (cream colored)--2 stands held together and there are 12 rows of pattern per repeat. Simple right?! Well it takes forever. And 10 feet take forever. It takes on average -- me a short attention span knitter about one and a half weeks to do one. And I haven't been faithful in that knitting.

I'm going to try to get half a panel knocked out today and finished up tomorrow night if I have to knit all day and night. Phew.......... I hope I'll have the desire to knit after they are finished. I know I will not want to touch any Red Heart in a while... That's for sure.

A Very Blue Day

Even though we are having beautiful weather. I'm feeling very low and blue. Can you believe the HR lady that wanted me to come back in for a second interview... then when showing up said... oh I'm sorry we didn't want you.... ACTUALLY just now sent me an email saying thank you for applying but we have decided to go with someone else. --- I mean she didn't think I got it the last time. Geezzz! I may not be as smart as my siblings (who are both nurses) - I hope and pray that I'm not as stupid as she is.

I've just been blue all day. Almost one of those crying kind of days but I can't cry. I don't know.
Just not a good day. I did measure out the yarn that Grace wants me to hand-dye for her. So that that is ready to soak and will start the process thursday. I have errands to run tomorrow and knitting group if I'm up to it.

New Yarns Added

Andrew and I finally got our camera working so now we don't need to use my sister's. Yeah. So I was able to get photos of the 4 new sock yarns I have posted HERE. I love all of them this time. It will be hard letting them go.

I had to go over to my mom's and work on her computer...had to do a lot of cleaning up the files, scanning for viruses, updatings, and generally get it working better for her. Then home to work on the commission knitting. Of course I sent out a few resumes. Its getting harder and harder to find places that are hiring. There are 2 Job Fairs that are coming up and I will go to them to check them out. Maybe there will be someone there. Hope so! Only about 7 more weeks of unemployment then I'll have to see if I qualify for the 13 week extension. I should.... but I haven't been lucky lately so I guess we will see.

It's been extremely hot here today. Too hot for my liking. I prefer cooler weather with light breezes and sunshine. Not the hot days that make you sweat. YUCK!

A little of this and a little of that

Yesterday I decided to work somemore with the clay (sculpey) and decided I wanted to make something that would use fun ribbion and threads from scrapbooking days. So I made a green fish and a purple fish that will be magnets I think. Not sure yet. I also made a cute little lamb. I hope to get them all posted at Dreamscape Threads around Wednesday.

Today I will be working on getting more sock yarn and DK weight yarn hand-painted so I can have them posted on the shop as well. I'm still working on the commissioned panels and will be knitting on those in between all the other things that need to be done today.

A Little Bit of Knitting

I haven't been doing a lot of knitting lately except for a large commission collection that I've been working on. But I did sneak in a bit of knitting of my hand-dyed yarn -- Dreamscape Threads. Below is a photo of some footies that I did out of the DK Luxury yarn inspired by Vermeer's The Girl with the Pearl Earring. I love the play of colors in the color inspiration. This is the "Medium" interpertation of the painting.

Snow Is Almost Gone...

It came and now its almost gone. My oldest dog Crickett loved it... and I wish it would have stayed awhile longer for her to play in it. Now its just created mud. Muddy dogs doesn't make mommy happy.

Can you believe it was in the mid teens this morning and is suppose to be near 70 this weekend. March is definitely coming in like a lion. Lets hope it goes out like a lamb.

We Finally Have Some Snow!

We woke up to around 5 inches of show this morning. Actually the first snow since Andrew and I have been married (4 yrs). He was so excited being from Portland, Oregon .... he misses the snow, but loves it not being rainy or overcast everyday.

The Big Girls, Crickett and Ladybug love the snow... they were running and making puppy snow angles this morning. However the little girls were about to choke themselves trying to get back into the house. NO Mommy, its too cold and wet... we don't like this white stuff. (And really the first snow for them being that they will be 4 this year). We will venture them out more today.

Oh said news.... last night while I was putting on face lotion... my ring scratched me.... I looked at it and OH NO!.... the diamond was GONE! I have no idea when it fell out or where. It wasn't a big diamond by no means... so I'm heart broken--being that there is no funds to fix it anytime in the future. Oh well.... still no job and now loosing my diamond.... what's next.... loosing the house. Which is more than likely my luck. Oh well....

Much Ado.....But Not Much Knitting

I've been busy with my yarn and Gnome Homes. That is getting things wrapped, packaged, and ready for when and if they sell at my etsy shop. I have 3 more colors of sock weight (its actually-Trekking sock yarn) skeins ready to post sometimes today on the site. Then I can get back to knitting a bit.

Nothing else is new. Still searching for that job that may be out there and still worrying. I know that there are a lot of us out there looking for work and worrying so I pray that we all find a job soon and that everyone is able to keep a roof over their head and food on the plate. Its scary.

Please stop by the store and let me know what you think. I would like to know what you think of the colors and the items and if you think it is worth it to keep it up.

Etsy Shop Up and Running

Dreamscape Threads ...a yarn of a different color

Please when you have time go and have a look. Being a colleged trained illustrator/artist I decided to base my first collection on some of the Great Masters Paintings. And while you are there you can take a look at my Gnome Homes. I need to work up a logo for packaging sometimes tonight or tomorrow morning.

I will have some illustrated knitting/yarn themed note cards -- Yarn Sprites (cute little elfish kiddies) soon. I need to get them printed. So maybe they will be posted tomorrow or Wednesday. Right now I only have 2 designs ready... and 4 more to finalize on the computer.

At least it will keep me busy as I continue to look for work. Oh, that reminds me.... there are some job fairs this week. Need to go and check out their websites to see who is going to be there.

Going By TOO FAST.....

This week as gone by way too fast. I feel like I haven't gotten through all that I needed to get done and it doesn't help that I'm feeling blue. There is just nothing out there in the job market and I'm panicking more and more everyday. Unemployment won't last forever.

Still trying to get things ready to open my Etsy shop. Have a few more "Gnome Homes" to paint and I need to get my Yarn Sprites cards finished up so I can get them printed. Andrew starts his 4 day week this week so I have him tomorrow to help me get caught up. At least I hope so.

Interview Questions from Grace

Grace posted on her blog that she was recently interviewed and would be glad to interview anyone else who wanted to be and I was definitely game! These are the questions she asked me.

1. When did you start knitting? What was your first project?
I started knitting about 4 years ago. I had learned how to do the basic knit stitch when I was a preteen-but never made anything. My first project was a pair of socks. I went for the gusto...I have small feet and knitting my own socks ---NO more heels half up the back of my leg!

2.If you were able to have one political figure and their spouse/SO over for dinner whom would you pick and why?
It would have to be either Abraham Lincoln or Thomas Jefferson. Fascinating men to read about. Their intelligence--astounding. And they were both creative thinkers.

3. What is your favorite Barbie from your collection?
Christian Dior - 1995: With silk taupe blouse, pleated organdy black skirt, black stockings with garters, black panties, straw hat and black pumps. Black long gloves and pearl necklace. She is the only Barbie I have out of the box and displayed on my dresser.

4. If you could build a dream home where would it be, lake ocean woods or near a city?
A large A-frame log cabin somewhere in Colorado on a lake with snow topped mountain peaks in the horizon. A totally green building in a pristine surrounding.

5. Who is your favorite knit wear designer?
I would have to say Debbie Bliss' baby knits and Susan Anderson's baby knits.

What I've Been Up Too

I've been working on my own hand-painted yarn line and hand sculpted/painted Gnome Homes. This weekend I hope to get all things labeled, photoed, and ready to build my first attempt at an etsy store.

Along with that I've also been working on a commissioned knitted wall panels (12 in all) and on the side I've started using us some KnitPicks Supershine cotton to make the little girls a new blankie. (nothing fancy on the blankie--just blocks -- something to keep them warm when they are sitting beside mommie.

Still looking everyday for a job... its very discouraging but I have hope that something will come by soon in my field (Graphic Designer/Illustrator) But if not I am looking outside of the box as well. Since I'm so close to having my masters in biology I may if I have too see about a lateral entry into teaching. I don't think I'd mind teaching high school biology. I did teach art for one year --many years ago and didn't like it. So maybe biology would be more of a challenge to teach. Science has always been my first love.

On the knitting news I've started another pair of "Fetching"-fingerless cable gloves for a person in my knitting group. I had knitted a pair for her (commission work) and after I gave them to her she wanted a pair for herself. There was plenty of yarn left over. So one glove is complete. I hope to get to the second one today.

I'm working on some special little gnome houses that I hope to get posted on my new Etsy site (as soon as it is ready I'll post the link). There will be original art work--Yarn Sprites note cards and post cards and handpainted yarns with a different twist. At least I hope so.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas morning yesterday and all their dreams and wishes were received. Andrew and I had our traditional hot chocolate in our Santa mugs Christmas Eve before heading to bed. Santa had to bypass our house again this year. We are hoping next year he will be able to make a visit.

Decided to post my photo so that my reader can see who I am. And I've added the Followers gadget to my sidebar to see who might want to be a follower of my blog.

Finished up some Christmas knitting this weekend and only have one thing else to finish up. Should only be an hour or two of knitting then all will be complete.

I finally just spent the money to have the big girls groomed. They were so overdue and looked so shabby that I don't care if some creditor has to wait a week or two for their payment. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

Still checking all the job posting sites daily and wishing and hoping that I will find some kind of work soon. Staying at home isn't for me--I worry way too much.

Well I hope everyone has all their shopping, knitting, and gift wrapping finished and now only have to wait till that special morning to get here.

Ornaments Are Found

Late yesterday afternoon I decided to go to our storage unit... and there they were. I have no idea when they were taken to storage. I've always kept them in the hall closet for safer keeping. I only put up the small 2 foot tree. (I have a little forest collection-4', 3', and 2' trees). I usually decorate them by themes... the tallest, all santas, the next--all snowmen, and the smallest small glass bulbs. So all little bulbs this year. I'll post a photo later. I need to go get some batteries for the camera.

Andrew was suprised when he got home... he was happy to see that I decorated a little. And it makes me happy when he is happy.

I also want to thank everyone for their prayers. They are greatly appreciated and do warm my heart. So on that note I will continue to try to see the positive in things.

Slight Hints

Even though I have no Christmas Spirit this year. I did hear a few slight hints that Andrew wished we had a tree. So I guess I'll surprise him by having a little tree up and many a few placed decorations around that will fulfil his holiday spirits.

Andrew is so loving and has such a sweet spirit about him. He only finds the positive in every situation and event. Me... I'm the negative one... I wish I could be more like him. I do try, but it is so hard. Maybe I should wish that for Christmas I could have the strength to be more like Andrew.

So I best be off to clean up the place a bit so I can get out some Christmas decorations. Then my goals for today is to get out at least 2 resumes, finish up the commissioned fingerless gloves, and visit and post messages to 10 knitting blogs I've never visited before--have to keep myself occupied--depression sets in so fast when I have time to think about loosing my job.

Another Friday

Just started knitting a pair of "Fetching" fingerless gloves for a friend (commission work) and I'm also working on some art work for a designer friend's new knitting pattern that she is working on. Other than that that will be what I'll be doing most of the weekend.

I am working on something new that I'll be introducing in the New Year. So look forward to a few clues as I get thing ready-- and yes it does involve art and yarn.

Thank you Grace and Dawn for the prayers. They are greatly appreciated and warm my heart. I've been sending out resumes right and left but I know that most companies will not be hiring until the new year. So I will hang in there.

Long Time No Blog--And a Christmas Wish

I know its been a while since I last blogged. I finally got DH to set up his old computer for me to use. Then as usual...my life gets worse. I have tried to make this a more positive year with positive blogs. But I've lost my job again. And this time its most likely going to be the worst.

With the back log in people loosing their jobs in NC... its a 6-8 week wait for unemployment. Which means that Andrew and I are living on almost nothing trying to keep up with the bills. And this time we might not be as lucky and we may loose the condo.

I'm trying to keep up a positive outlooks but it sure is hard--and it doesn't help that its this time of year. (Of which I've never liked--long story--but in a nutshell--Christmas was never a happy time in my childhood) And the ways its going as an adult it hasn't been that good either. I was just hoping that this time--now that I have the most wonderful husband in my life--things would be better. Our love is strong--but since we've been married its been one disaster after another. I'm sure we will get through this one---I pray.

As for a Christmas Wish
1. That everyone finds that someone special.
2. That no one should have to go to bed hungry or cold.
3. That the government wakes up and realizes that we the American PEOPLE should be first on the help list.
4. That I find a JOB! and soon.

Now for the frivolous Christmas Wish
1. A PETCO gift card so I can afford to get my girls their favorite food and treats-and have the 2 big girls groomed.
2. Some thick XL long sleeve Tees and new work shoes for Andrew.
3. An eye doctor who would let me make affordable payments so I can get new glasses-its been almost 3 years now and I know being a diabetic I should have them checked every year.

Finally... a wonderful and merry Christmas.

Well enough said. As I struggle through this season I will try again to update more often with news--good or bad. Hoping for the good. Mother Board and Graphic Card--Gone.....

Well my laptop has finally turned into a black screen. Sad thing is I still have another year of payments to make. I know you say laptops are cheap... well mine was a high end graphic artist/illustrator model. One that could handle my high-end graphic programs. Now I will have to wait till we can save up the money to purchase a new motherboard/graphic card. Oh well.... another event of bad luck. I wonder what else is on the horizon. Diabetes, Computer, and.... will this be the day I loose my job. (which I stress day to day if they are going to let me go or not). Just one more thing added to the list of ever growing stress.

I guess I should be happy that we have a roof over our head.... but if the job is gone... that will not be for long. We still aren't back on our feet after loosing my previous job of 20 yrs and being unemployed for 9 month. Again we are still better off than some. But it sure puts a damper on things. Especially like being able to purchase new yarn..... oh well, maybe one day in the near future. Just need to make do with what I have. Luckily I have a small stash.

I will still keeping posting when I can get my DH off his computer. In the mean time I will try to hang in there with life's bountiful bed of unluckiness that consistently knocks at my door.

Another Day—Another Dollar

And still no knitting in sight. Tonight is the weekly knitting night. So maybe I will get some knitting done tonight. Well at least that is my plan. It seems it always depends on how tired I am after a long day of work and my commute. My goal for myself is to at least get through the ribbed section of the second Monkey sock for Grace. Then this weekend tackle the leg part. Have to get knitting pronto—Grace's birthday is coming up soon!

Well I hope everyone is doing well. I'm dealing with being a new diabetic and have made some major life-style changes. Better eating, more exercising, and more relaxing. I have to take each day one by one and not focus in on all the negative vibes around me. Happiness has to be somewhere.....I hope to find it daily with time.

Long Time Waiting

Here is the promised photo of all the goodies Grace sent me for my birthday. There are 2 sets of 4 each placemats, Wonderful smelling apple spice candles and holder, Birthday tea and a tea pouch full of different teas. There is also a cutey bunny wearing Grace's sweet little shawl a knitted fuzzy birthday cupcake, knitting patterns, a skein of alpaca yarn..... she spoils me! Thank you again my dear friend.

Sorry again for the delay in the photo... my graphic card is going out on my laptop and its been doing some strange things to photos. I'll have to get my programs installed on my hubbies computer till I can upgrade and replace my graphic card.

Here is a photo of the little girls ... couldn't resist. They are just so cute.
As for knitting, I've finally finished a gift that will be given Friday... so photos of that will come this weekend- I hope.

Sorry It's Been Awhile

Well life does take some strange twist at time. I was not looking forward to my 49th birthday but it wasn't that bad once I found out the following week that I was a diabetic. I've taken these past few weeks to put my life back in order. It was time to take better care of myself --I'm exercising again and eating better. And as of today I'm back to blogging again on a regular bases. I hope promised photos of Grace's wonderful gifts and Poppy's new sweater will be taken when I get home from work tonight and hopefully they will be posted later this week.

Today is My Birthday.....

And no Singing Here. Next year I'll be approaching that BIG Mountain... the big 50. Today I had to realize even though most people that know me can not believe that I'm my age. They think I'm around 42 and it blows them away when they find out my real age. But today.... I feel old. Maybe because I'm not feeling well... maybe because I feel a little depressed... or maybe because its the old dreaded birthday thing.

As a kid my birthday was never celebrated that much.. being a summer birthday. My mom didn't drive... and we didn't have a phone so it was hard to have a birthday party. I tried planning one for myself when I turned 16. No luck there either. Most of my friends were out of town. So I had my cake by myself along with my first champagne. (Which I didn't like). Ok everyone... no pity needed. But I guess this is why I hate my birthday and why I wish it away.

I got a wonderful package from Grace and will take a photo tomorrow to share it with everyone. All the items were individually wrapped so it was like getting a lot of gifts. Oh fun it was.

Andrew and I splurged a bit and went to Outbacks for an early dinner. I got my favorite.. Shrimp on the Barbie. Its so yummy. Then we went to Barnes and Noble and looked at magazines and books. We tried the new Chocolate-Banana frozen drink they had. It was fair. Andrew finished mine. I also purchased the book The Mermaids Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. I loved her first book The Secret Life of Bees. So far so good.

It's already been a long week and its only Wednesday. Finally finished the catalog at work....it was the first job I started on when I started working here last July. Phew! It's been a long year. Now it's at the printer and we are waiting to check proofs.

Tonight Is the YA-YA Yarners meeting. We meet every Wednesday night at 7 at the local Barnes and Nobles. There's generally 6 of us--sometimes more, sometimes less. But mostly just the 6. Tonight we are meeting to celebrate my birthday... at Southern Light's - a local bistro first, then we will head over for our meeting.

I have my secret project that I'm doing for a friend. So I'll have to post photos when I'm finished. Her birthday is next month. Other than that life is going ..... and the weatherman promises cooler weather starting tomorrow... some how I don't consider in the mid to upper 80s cool.... 80s, 90s .... all hot to me.

Packages Sent... but not Much Else

I've been knitting a cute gift for a friends birthday that will be coming up soon. Once she has it I'll post photos. It's really cute. And will look pretty on her.

Found 2 cute little pink light weight sleeveless sweater for the little girls. They get cold in the house--bad mom--I keep the air cold... these close to 100 temp. days -- way too hot for me to enjoy. I need to get photos of Poppy and Pansy wearing them. Maybe they will let me take their photo later today or tomorrow. They are being a little too prissy at the moment.

Migraines and More

Today I came home early because of a migraine. I've had them off and on since I was 12. They tend to peak now and then--then they stop for a while. I know my trigger foods and know that stress is a key player. Today, I'm not sure what brought this one on. I've taken my meds...but there is still a dull thud and theres tension in my neck. Need to wait till I can take more meds.

I've heard from all but Dawn (first place winner) from my contest. Tomorrow I need to stop on my way home to pick up a few small treasures to include with their package and then get them mailed hopefully Wednesday.

As for knitting... probably none today. Migraines blur my vision and I don't want to stain my eye if I don't need too. Working on a computer all day long does enough of that in itself.
